WRITER’S DIGEST NAMES PAGEONELIT.COM A TOP 101 WEBSITE FOR WRITERS

The Writer’s Digest, the source for information on writing better and getting published, has just named its top 101 websites for writers. For the third time, PageOneLit.com is on the list.

The Writer’s Digest, published since 1920, is the most respected publication for writers, which makes this recognition highly prestigious. The Writer’s Digest selects its top 101 sites by analyzing staff favorites and visitor nominations. In naming PageOneLit.com as a top 101 website for writers, Writer’s Digest recognizes that this website offers writers—and readers—the best resources on the Internet.

Established in 1994, PageOneLit.com was the first online literary newsletter and ranks first in Google searches for literary newsletters. The site publishes author interviews, book reviews, and literary news. Visitors may also participate in writing contests, visit websites for authors and other writing resources, and read authors’ reflections on writing. PageOneLit.com owner  says, “I want people to keep reading so writers will keep writing.”

The most popular feature of PageOneLit.com is the section on new books. This is the “home for authors to market their books,” says Weaver, an industry expert in book promotion and publishing. Here, visitors find book synopses and interviews with the authors of new books. Author and novelist William HazelGrove says, “Pageonelit has led the way in Internet based literary websites.”

The Writer’s Digest also named PageOneLit.com as a top 101 site for writers in 1999 and 2001, and honored the site with the 2000 National Zine Publishing Award. PageOneLit.com has been featured by the USA Today, N.Y. Times, and Chicago Tribune newspapers.

The White Doves Soar (ISBN 1460953746) by Robert S. Dahl is a very interesting literary ride for historians of World War II with adventure, action and romance.

Personally, I enjoy historical novels and with 9-11 around the corner it’s important to remember our fighting men and the other wars that give us our freedom today. In The White Doves Soar, the stage is set in 1943, as Air Force First Lieutenant Jacob “Jake” Bradford prepares for his first mission in Greece during World War II. He and his best friend, Lieutenant William “Buck” Henderson, embark on a flight to parachute Buck into the hills outside of Athens, which throws them right into the reality and fury of the war.

Disaster strikes in Laviro, Greece, for Sara Emmanuel, a young assistant college professor. She is placed under the control of the German Nazis, like most orthodox Jews, through Adolf Hitler’s “Final Solution.” Only those with unwavering strength will survive this tragedy. Sara and Jake eventually cross paths, enriching the plot and further describing Greece during World War II.

In a recent Interview, the author said, “It was inspired by a dream, it is the experience of two young adults during the chaotic years of World War II. It is a book about struggles, the determination, and the ingenuity of the human spirit to survive under harsh conditions. And the ability of the spirit to survive and enjoy the better things of life. This book is an epic tale including both sides of the story. It has many of the ingredients that make for great story-telling:lots of action, plenty of descriptive detail, and a compelling blend of military drama, history, culture, romance, and suspense. The individual stories—- Jake’s and Sara’s most notably—play out against an interesting background of Greece during World War II.”

The White Doves Soar is an original historical fast paced historical fiction and the author writes with amazing detail. from the first chapter to the last it is very inspiring to how much research went into writing The White Doves Soar. An exception read and a MUST BUY!

About the author: I’m a 73-year-old semi-retired entrepreneur. My wife Carol and I have been married for over 50 years. We have been in business together for most of those years. Both of us were born, and raised in Pipestone, Minnesota. I was a private pilot for 35 years, with around 4000 hours of flight time. We also are experienced sailors. We have owned two large sailboats and now we have a motor yacht. My wife Carol assisted me with this book. She would edit each chapter several times for me, and listen to my story ideas. With her encouragement and cooperation, we finished the story for you to enjoy. During World War II, there were many untold stories. This is an epic historical drama, with adventure, action and romance. The time frame is from late-1943 to mid-1945. Most of the story takes place in Greece and the Mediterranean theater.Inspiration for this book came from a dream I had. In May of 2009, I was in the hospital in the cardiac intensive care unit. I was recovering from carotid artery surgery. That night I had a reoccurring dream, about a American Army Air Force pilot in the World War II. Over the next month or so, I could not get this dream out of my mine, I just kept adding to the story. In the fall and winter of 2009 — 2010, I wrote the story in longhand, then through the miracle of computer technology. I was able to put it into book form.I know, you will enjoy this story, and get some sense of the terrible loss of life and suffering, that was going on worldwide during World War II. Also, I hope that you will see the enthusiasm and bravery of the young men and woman involved in this war. They carried the day for the United States and their allies. We should thank God, every day for the sacrifices made by these young people. They helped win World War II, and guaranteed our freedom and way of life. Most of the names of the characters in this book are fictitious. Nearly all the places where the story takes place are not. I spent hundreds of hours researching the information, for this story. I enjoyed writing this book, and I plan to write more. This story will take you back to those times, giving you a brief look into the history of World War II. http://robertsdahlbooks.com

Drawing Straight With Crooked Lines by Paul White is extraordinary!

Drawing Straight With Crooked Lines by Paul White (ISBN-10: 0595498140) is an extraordinary study and story in fiction regarding how God uses flawed and imperfect people to carry out his perfect plan.

Drawing Straight With Crooked Lines is original, tangible and substantial. Never have I read a book this engaging.

Rocky Gates, is a disbarred, drug addicted lawyer who has lost all hope and tries to end his life. He has lost all hope ,meaning and human will. However, God personally intervenes and informs Rocky that he has been called upon to deliver a special message to all the inhabitants of Earth. The message is bestowed and rendered to Rocky over the course of a week, while he walks through a series of self-imposed crisis and tribulations.Drawing Straight With Crooked Lines illustrates how the power of God can transform a human life, no matter how far down the ladder we may have fallen. It also demonstrates the unique love the Heavenly Father has for all His children and the lengths He will go to show us this love. This cleverly, skillfully and intelligently written book mixes humor and wit to carry its timeless message of hope.

In a recent Interview the author says, “It is a quirky little book, set in San Antonio. The main character is Rocky Gates, a drug addicted, disbarred lawyer who has totally ruined his life. He has lost all hope and tries to commit suicide.

However, God has a different plan. He takes on human form and personally intervenes to save Rocky’s life. The pair spends a week together, during which God (who likes to be called “Pops”) teaches Rocky how to stay clean and gives him a special message to deliver to the rest of the world. In addition to Pops, Rocky also meets Jesus Christ, Satan, the Apostle Paul and Judas Iscariot.

It is a fast paced and action packed read. It also deals with a lot of dark themes – drug addiction, relapse, blackmail, murder, betrayal, prostitution and homosexuality, just to name a few.

A lot of people assume that Rocky Gates is just a thinly disguised version of me. This is simply not the case. Granted, there are some common elements. I am a recovering addict, a chronic relapser and a former attorney, just like him. But Rocky is really a composite character, combining the different personality traits of dozens of recovering addicts I have known. Like Rocky, these addicts are intelligent, often brilliant, people.”

Drawing Straight With Crooked Lines is an instant classic and one that everyone will enjoy and surprisingly find a ray of hope and gratitude upon reading as well as praise and recognition. A MUST read!
